Jack, you were a dear friend who was always so kind and thoughtful to our family. We thank you so much for sharing a part of yourself with us. You will be remembered as a kind and generous soul. You always thought of others and you touched so many lives....including the furry ones! We'll miss you.
"Happy Jack" would always make us laugh with his quick wit, unique observations, and interesting perspectives about life and people in general.
P.S. Dear Marg & Family:
You are in our thoughts and prayers...we hope to see you soon. Take care,
Love from all of us, The Aitken Family, xoxo

Marg, Dave, Darrell and Randy, please accept my condolences on the passing of your Husband and Father, Jack. Every time I got to talk with him it brought back fond memories of things our families did together when we were kids. Over the years "Happy" Jack taught me many things, none greater than to not think so much about how others look at you but, how you look at others. Jack was a very good person and his kindness shone through when he watched out for my daughter Jen while she went through an illness that prevented her from enjoying recess at Eastdale School.
Jack's laughter and smile will be missed by many.
My thoughts are with all of you.

From: Lyle Beaudoin Jack Kelly was caretaker at Eastdale when I taught there from '78-'84. I always enjoyed talking with him. He had his own unique way of looking at things and had a great sense of humour. When you first met him he seemed gruff but he had a heart of gold. My condolences to his wife Margaret and the entire family.

Dear Grandpa,
I'm sad you had to leave us, but I know it's for the best. It was almost as if you knew it was your time on Friday. After some talk about me putting your teeth in (maybe one day that will make sense to me), you asked me to put your radio on, turn the lights off, and go take care of Mother. That was the last we talked. I told you to stay out of trouble, and I'd see you in two weeks.
When growing up, you always gave me a loonie whenever I came over. You made sure chocolate milk was on the table at Christmas. You took me fishing and let me sit closer to the fire when we were up at the trailer. You always offered to cook me eggs - but only if I was up at 6am when you cooked your own.
You told me to eat my vegetables - they would put hair on my chest.
You called me when I grew older to let me know when chocolate milk was on sale, and where, even if the store wasn't close by, you still called.
You've got a good spot at the cemetery. A place where you can visit the birds, but still keep an eye on the traffic on the road.
Don't worry about us. We'll be ok down here. Life will be different, but we'll be ok in the end.
And we'll take care of Mother.
Stay outta trouble wherever you land.
Love Melissa

He always tried to get me to eat something by telling me "It'll put hair on your chest!". Then he'd laugh. He went to Cape Breton a couple times with my family. I know he had a great time down there & my family enjoyed having him. He made friends everywhere he went. I remember all the crazy hats he collected & wore. I think it was my 16th Birthday he had to pose with me for a picture & he insisted on wearing this crazy looking hat of many colours. That was Grandpa, one of a kind! I will miss him. I am grateful for the memories I have of Grandpa & they will stay with me forever.
Love Always
Mandy

I was a student at Eastdale from 1981-1984 and Mr. Kelly is a part of my very fond memories from that time. He always had a smile and kind words for me either in the school or on the playground. Once in a while he would even surprise me with a candy to brighten my day. I wasn't well for a period of time in Grade 3 and Mr. Kelly seemed to keep a special eye out for me.
He was a kind man and will be missed.

I was a student at Eastdale School from 1976 to 1983, I have fond memories of Mr Kelly, he was always very friendly & would always stop to talk to me in particular & joke about my mom on her "broom stick", but my fondest memory of all was the year I graduated, he presented me w/ a prettily decorated box. It was a big box of tennis balls that he collected from the roof of the school. That memory has stayed with me & will remain with me always. Thanks for the memories Jack, rest in peace.

My heartfelt condolences to the Kelly family.
I was a student in grade 2 in 1978 at Eastdale and remember Mr Kelly very well. He was a great man and after all of these years, I have often thought of him. I just mentioned him not a week ago to my daughter who was talking about her caretaker at her school.
He will be missed!!!!!
