My deepest condolences to Mrs.Laxton's family and friends. Mrs.Laxton was my 1st grade teacher over 50 years ago at Viscount Montgomery Elementary School. There are teachers who you remember all your life. She was one of them. She was a lovely person with a great smile. She truly cared about her students. May she rest in eternal peace.

Joyce Laxton was a true, stylish, gentle, charming, devoted lady. I grew up going to Grace Anglican Church and always remember looking for the “iconic Laxtons” every Sunday, Once seeing them, I was content for the service to begin. That’s how they inpacted and how their presence was so valued to me.
I remember one Easter, Joyce walked up the aisle, stunningly dressed as usual, and her hair was white with black spots sporadically designed on her. I thought, “Wow,”. She looks like a dalmation, but later thought…..”she’s class.”
I remember her gentle, humorous ways with my late Mother, Dorrie Gamble (Copeland) and her involvement in Sunday School and with the Bazaars.
We have gratitude and lovely memories of her and the Laxton family.
God Bless Joyce RIP

As a novice teacher, I started my career at Viscount Montgomery School where Joyce Laxton was already a seasoned pro in the classroom. She was a role model in many ways, two of which being her excellent teaching style and the way she presented herself with panache every day.. She had the common sense about managing children that I had not yet developed and was a joy to talk with about both the classroom and life. What a long, wonderful life she has lived. She certainly left a lasting impression on me and I will remember her with gratitude.
