Our condolences to Diane and the Nishizaki family,
It was a surprise or rather a shock to learn Dennis had passed away. I and moreso, my sister Lorie had known Dennis for a longtime, attending the same high school and attending Sansei-Kai events. One of my early remembrances was playing on the same Central SS junior football team with Dennis more than 60 years ago. Back then he amazed me as he could throw a football more than 50 yards with ease. May he rest in peace.

Dear Diane and family, our condolences on the passing of Dennis. I remember visiting with Dennis and his Mom and Dad when they had the Japanese Grocery on Rebecca. I was maybe 8 or 9 at the time. My Dad had just recently passed away, so Aunt Rosemary and Uncle Harry had me stay with them for a bit. I remember that it was kind of neat to hang out with my older cousin. I'm not so sure that Dennis thought it was so cool but he put up with me tagging along where ever he went. One time, Dennis took me out to McMaster to visit Uncle Harry at his work.
Dennis will be greatly missed by all.

Dear Diane, Kimiye, Brett and Family,
Our deepest sympathies on the passing of Dennis after a valiant fight with several health complications. All too soon to lose a loving husband, Father, Grandfather, brother-in-law, Uncle and Cousin.
Dennis’ quick wit, ever ready with a witty remark, had a way of making those around him laugh and be at ease. His calm nature, and kind spirit will be sorely missed by the Hashimoto family.
With much love and sadness,
Debbie and Kevin Hashimoto and Family

"Nish" was a giant to me!
Our friendship goes back to Central SS and I was lucky enough to be a part of a group of friends that included Dennis.
One of my favourite memories is when Dennis and I walked the streets of Manhatten during the night on Easter Sunday morning
during the Grade 13 trip to NY,NY.
Dennis always had a smile (except on the football field) and enriched many lives.
My condolences to Diane, family and friends. We have lost a "Good One",
Tom Krawczyk

I’m still in a state of disbelief as I write this note with a heavy heart.
I have known Dennis for almost my entire life. We met as children when our parents were good friends. As Dennis and I grew older we developed a close relationship and we had mutual friends.
One of my fondest childhood memories was Dennis and I often going to Mrs. Nishizaki’s Japanese grocery store on Rebecca Street in Hamilton whenever we were hungry. Mrs. Nishizaki would always make us something to eat and it seems odd but my favourite food was the fried baloney which Mrs. Nishizaki got from her display counter.
Dennis and I went to different high schools but we still socialized together often. I remember partying with friends at Diane’s parents’ house on Upper Gage Avenue almost every weekend. As teenagers Dennis and I joined a social club for Japanese teenagers called Sansei-kai where we developed several other friends. Many of us eventually married, notably Dennis and Diane, Janet and Keith Mochizuki, Georgina and Dave Mochizuki and Yvonne and myself. As adults we continued to socialize and see each other. However as we began our families we drifted apart but we maintained contact throughout our lives.
Dennis was gifted with natural athletic skills and had he been about a foot taller I think he would have been an outstanding athlete in any sport he chose.
I will always cherish the many good memories that I have of my time with Dennis. His easy-going nature and friendliness will be missed by his many friends and relatives.
My sincere condolences to Diane, Brett and his family and Kimiye and her family.

Sharing in your sadness as we remember Dennis.
A competitive curler but always with a smile on his face.
Like Dave Serwatuk said, a true gentleman on and off the ice.

Dennis & Diane taught us to do the Miner's Dance at their wedding 54 years ago, an event that has been a wonderful memory for all these years. We also spent great times playing cards, watching fireworks, and laughing uproariously over the simplest things! God go with you Dennis, and may your family feel the compassion of all who knew you. My deepest condolences.
Dennis and I had many great times on and off the ice.
His competitiveness was carried on by his children.
I'm sure as we speak, he is on a better course or rink above. Soon we will all join him for a drink.
