Obituary of Jeff Moore

It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Jeff on December 24th, 2023 at Juravinski Hospital at the age of 56. Jeff passed away from complications after his Stem Cell Transplant for leukemia.

Family meant everything to Jeff. He was an amazing husband to Cath for 31 years and the best dad ever to Caitlin and Jennifer! He was a wonderful son to Jeanette and the late Bill Moore, and a great son-in-law to the late Bev and John Cservenyak. Jeff was always ready and willing to help his brothers: Greg (Marlo), Rob (Sheila), and John Cservenyak Jr. (Margaret). He will be missed by his nephews and nieces: Connor, Caleb, Olivia, Alexxa, Haille, and Mary.

Jeff started his career of 31 years with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board as a high school science teacher and loved doing science demos for his classes. He served as OSSTF District 21 President for several years, then returned to the classroom for a short time before becoming a principal. He retired from the board in June 2022 as principal of Continuing Education where he found great satisfaction helping adult learners be successful.

Jeff loved watching the Tiger Cats play football and attended 2 Grey Cups in Hamilton. He followed the NFL but especially loved US College Football. The Florida Gators were always his team! Jeff played touch football for 35+ years in Hamilton before becoming an official. He enjoyed his new role and was hoping to continue to ref in the upcoming years.

Science fiction inspired Jeff’s passion for space and astrophotography. He was an avid Star Trek fan and watched all of the series many times, with the original series being his favourite. Jeff was also a Beatles fan and spent many hours practicing songs on his guitar. He was able to see Paul McCartney in concert 4 times and every time was the best!

The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses involved with his care and treatment at the Juravinski Hospital, especially Dr. Walker and his team. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Juravinski Hospital/Cancer Center would be greatly appreciated.

Please join the family in a Celebration of Jeff’s Life on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Marquis Gardens Hamilton, 1050 Rymal Road East.
