Obituary of Lawrence (Lorry) Didtrek
When we lose someone who has had such a profound impact on us, it is hard to imagine life without them. This is how we feel about the loss of our Dad who was an amazing husband to our Mom, Jeanette (Jan) and incredible Dad and teacher to Troy (Ann) and Cheryl (William).
When great people leave us, the ripple continues to be felt far and wide. Dad wore many hats throughout his life: devoted and caring husband; fun and loving dad; doting grandfather (Pop); cherished brother; tough, but fair boss; favourite uncle; amazing chef (who can forget that lasagna and wonderful carrot cake and many kinds of cheesecakes); helpful and caring friend; and great neighbour. And we all loved him. These are dad's ripples. As the youngest of 7, Dad was predeceased by his mother (Julia) and father (Mike). Brothers and sisters: Alex, Helen, Frank, Nelly, Wally, and Reggie (David). He was a favourite Uncle to almost 40 nieces and nephews and several more great-nieces and nephews, and a wonderful Godfather to 3. He will be terribly missed by his 5 grandchildren: Christian, Rhys, Ciara, Bethany, and Callum who loved him immensely and had the distinct honour of having him in their lives into adulthood. Many wonderful memories have been created for them over the years.
A sincere thank-you to the palliative care team and PSWs who helped to care for Dad at home and for the incredibly caring and diligent doctors, nurses, PSWS, volunteers and staff at the Bob Kemp Hospice during Dad's final week. Cremation has taken place.
Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Dad's name would be appreciated. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
