I was taking a trip down memory lane, looking at old photos of the farm on google maps and how the area has changed, yet in many ways is very much the same. I thought I'd check to see if you still lived there, but sadly came across Ron's obituary. I am so very sorry for your loss! My sincere condolences to you all, Marian, Debbie and Glenn, and to everyone who loved him.
Looking at the photo brings back a flood of memories. It is a wonderful photo! I never knew he was a pilot! How fantastic! There is so much I did not know about him, but I always remember him to be quietly busy doing something ingenious. In particular, I will never forget when he came and rescued me (in that awesome '67 Dodge van!) from the house after our chimney blew into my parent's bedroom and I was home alone in one of those crazy blizzards we use to have. I recall spending several days with you because of that storm! Those certainly were the days, at least as a kid.
There were so many adventures and lots of good memories with you all, eating together in your kitchen, exploring the farm, the chickens & the chicken coop, riding the go-cart that Ron built for Debbie. Playing in the old basement, making strange potions and concoctions! It was a childhood most kids could only dream of!
I hope you are all keeping well, holding his memory close to your heart, and celebrating all the wonderful times you had together. 91 is quite the life achievement!
Thinking of you all...
With love,
Michele Vanderwoude
