Obituary of Ignac "Iggy" Podobnik

On August 19th we lost our husband, Pops, Nonno and big Nonno in his 85th year.   He brought his beloved wife Barbara, his son Adolf, his daughter Franca (Seul), son-in-law Karl, his grandchildren Alyssa (Ben), Rachel (Dean), Garret, Sarah and Melissa and his great-grandchild Bobby; joy and lots of laughter. Iggy started his career in his home Croatia as an incredible woodworker. He travelled to Italy where he met and married the love of his life, Barbara and eventually moved his family to Canada where he continued handcrafting kitchens and furniture. Iggy gave his family a good life through hard work and perseverance.   Iggy’s greatest joy was having his family surrounding him enjoying a good meal and his homemade wine. We’re so grateful to have been loved by such a fun loving and generous person for such a long, beautiful life. Don’t worry Nonno, we’ll remember “Everything is beautiful”. Our family would like to thank the staff at the General Hospital who took such good care of Iggy in his last days and to Dr. Michael Savaterri for his kindness, care and patience over the years.  Family and friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.  Entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery, 681 Mud St., Stoney Creek.
