Obituary of Sonia Lyssette Amatuzio
With the heaviest of heart, we announce the passing of our loving mother Lyssette, at her home just as she wanted, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, January 2, 2023, at the young age of 48. The beloved wife of Andrea Amatuzio for 26 years. Dear Mami of Loredana, Luana, and Anthony (Emily). Cherished daughter of the late Sonia Mena Barberena and Geraldo Garlant, and Rene Morales. Dear sister of Yelinda Garlant (Michael) and Henri Amador (Lissette). Treasured daughter-in-law of Aurora Lucarelli and Antonio Amatuzio. She was the adored niece of Hugo Levy-Mena and Francis Mena Bonilla de Villegas. She will be deeply missed by her many aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends in Canada, Costa Rica, United States, Italy, and Mexico. Lyssette was a special person who loved caring for others and that was seen through her many years working in Healthcare as a PSW/MED-TECH. Mami was a kind soul that was filled with so many smiles, laughs, advice, and stories. Lyssette will be remembered for her strength and grace throughout not only this battle with her illness but throughout all of them. Her love of music both in English and Spanish. For her love of Spanish, Greek, and Mediterranean food. We would like to think that she’s dancing to merengue in heaven drinking a long island iced tea with extra cherries with all her loved ones. We will miss her beautiful smile and loving hugs especially. Heartfelt thanks to the paramedics, doctors, and nurses who have helped along the way. May you finally rest in peace nuestra Mamita y nosotras te amamos por siempre. Family and friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Vigil prayers 7:30pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, 304 Highway 8, Stoney Creek on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow.
