Your Mom and Grandmother "Babcia"- Millie as many knew her, was always Pani Zablocki to me -Polish for Mrs.
My parents in Blyth had asked her to be my godmother when I was born, and I best remember her living in Clinton in the 1970's and 80's: busy with her ballet teaching, community involvement, advocating for peace and disarmament, and driving her little red Datsun 210 everywhere!
Thank you for sharing her remarkable life story here- her vigour, resilience and optimism in the face of the harsh experiences she had in World War II and afterwards as a single mother make her even more inspiring.
I've attached a photo from a visit my spouse and I had with her on December 23, 2014 at Heritage Green Home in Stoney Creek. She had such a vivacious personality that charmed us both, and remembered so much about my Dad and Mom's lives that I had forgotten.
She was a truly special individual who touched deeply the lives of many, and left each of us better for having known her.
Pani Zablocki will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.
Our sincerest condolences,
Mr. Janek -John- Kuchmistrz and Mr. I. Shushan
