Obituary of Anthony Wiegerinck
October 2, 1932 – November 29, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful husband and father, in his 90th year. He leaves behind his loving wife Mary of 63 years, daughters Shirley (Merv Hart) and Denise (Roy Kuenle). Predeceased by his son Michael. He will be missed by many family and friends in Holland and Canada. Tony came to Canada with his wife in 1958 and built his home and his family. He retired from Stelco as a welder but continued his amazing talent with ornamental iron work. His true passion was cycling. He conquered around the Great Lakes, across 7 different countries, more than once. At the age of 70 he cycled 70 km a day, every day, for a total of 25, 550 kms. He was instrumental in improving cycling safety signs on many roadways in Stoney Creek where you would often see him biking. He was also the founder of the Stoney Creek Freewheelers. Later in life you would see him on those same roads on his scooter with his best friend Jody the golden retriever. We would like to thank Dr. Kozac and all of the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their exceptional care. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at his home on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. with COVID protocols. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
