Thinking of you all through this very sad and sudden time. Sending my deepest thoughts and prayers. I remember George being filled with joy whenever I got the time to spend with him in BC. He expressed this always with his big heart and smile!
May his spirit continue to shine.
With love and hugs, Trisha

Wayne and I were saddened to read of Dear George’s sudden passing. I have such precious memories of times spent together when we were very young couples. I remember George’s ability to fix anything, his meticulous approach to all projects and most importantly his enormous kind heart! His kindness and love for others is his legacy to all who knew him.
I met George as preschool Kids, his family newly arrived in Hamilton from Valleyfield Quebec. I had a wagon & tricycle He rode the bike me the wagon....we went to separate schools but always played together. Later George riding his two wheel bike was involved in a serious accident when a malfunction caused him to crash into a cement hydro pole......concussion resulted. His first job was at Triangle Dry cleaners were he became head dry cleaner. He was in his teens, and Ken asked when he got his first dentures. He was 15 or 16. We hung around together all the time. Earlier on while visiting at his house & listening to western music I sat on one of Irene’s favorite records and broke it.....we were scared skinny, what have I done?
We were in each other’s weddings and visited when the kids were babies and small children.
George was a very accomplished In all he attempted to do and was actually asked ,by customers to be the plumber on plumbing jobs, I remember so well. Having said that I many times used George’s career and abilities as an example, to others of what one is able to do when you have desire and tenacity to accomplish your goals.
R.I.P. George Gardner.

George, or Uncle George as I’ve always called him, was always such a bright light in our family. I’m happy to say that I have only fond memories of him from our family dinners, holidays and of course, memories of one of my favourite trips to BC for Kathy’s wedding. I’ll always remember his contagious laughter, his funny stories and his little cooler filled with his favourite beers. I’m filled with regret that I was not able to see him (or the rest of the clan) in so many years and to not be there with you all now. But I am sending my love to everyone ♥️.
Ps, I could not bring many things with me to Spain, but one staple in my apartment here is the napkin holder that George made ages ago. I think about him every time I see it, which is every day.

I will always remember George as one of the friendliest and caring people I knew as a young man. He was always ready with a smile and a joke and never turned down someone in need of assistance. Our occasional meetings in recent years were always cause for reminiscing and a few shared laughs. Betty, Ken, Kathryn and Garett, and your extended families, please accept our deepest condolences. Our condolences from the Chambers family.
I worked with George for many years, he was the kindest, friendliest man I ever met. I learned most of the plumbing trade working with George, we had a lot of fun too.
My favorite part of the day was after work and sitting at his table with a beer(or 2). He would tell stories of work but his favorite place was the 'camp', riding ATV's with his family

Moving along in years, Dad joined Betty's family at the "camp" where he spent a couple decades getting "into trouble" with the boys, playing horseshoes, carousing late into the night, driving their quads and generally enjoying family and fresh air. "It's been a good run".

Dad loved camping, fishing, playing his guitar. He did all the cooking when we camped and we always looked forward to his famous French Toast - BEST you've ever tasted. Fun fact: Dad has worn a complete set of dentures since he was a young teenager. (Aunt Irene - can you confirm his age?). He removed them only to clean them... except when he was goofing around - then he would pull them out and make everyone laugh with his gummy old-man smile. 50 years later he finally got a new set. The denturist said if he could make this set last 50 years, he'd get the next set for free.

George and I met in 2007.
Unbeknownst to him, two years prior, I had asked his beautiful daughter out for ski date. Kathryn was working as the local hill and I happen to be there a lot that year. Must have made a good impression, as here we are 16 years later. It was inevitable that our paths would cross as I was smitten with his daughter.
In the beginning, I was lucky enough to spend time at "camp". Various relatives would come and go. They all had their own tiny cottages. George told countless stories of great years gone by. Family, friends, campfires, beer, and a guitar or two.
Over the past decade and a half, I have come to admire and thoroughly enjoy George's company. Never without a smile, a story, a joke to tell. Good or bad! You would never find him in a bad mood. It just wasn't him.
I could not have picked a better Father-in-law if ever given the chance. He took me in as his daughters' husband. No hesitation or question. As far as I know!
I feel truly blessed to have had the pleasure and opportunity to get to know such a fine man.
He will be so missed, words cannot express.
Rest in peace, George
Love Garett
