Obituary of Olive Bebbington

BEBBINGTON, Olive

Olive Bebbington passed away on December 2, 2020 at the age of 97.  She was born in Manchester England on February 22, 1923 to Elias Henry Sitford and Elizabeth Frances Sitford.  Olive came to Canada with her parents on September 8, 1923 to Toronto, Ontario. She grew up in the Salvation Army and attended the Salvation Army Bible College in Toronto. She became a Salvation Army Officer and was stationed at Collingwood and then Mimico. Olive met her husband Bill Bebbington, when she was the maid of honor for his sister, Lillian Bebbington. Bill had just returned from overseas after serving in the Canadian Air Force in World War II. They were married on January 15, 1948 and lived in Hamilton for most of their marriage.  Olive and Bill shared 45 wonderful years of marriage together before Bill passed away in 1993.  Olive and Bill had had five children, John (Anne-deceased) Bebbington, Howard (Julie) Bebbington, Mark (Lorraine) Bebbington, Raymond (Taryn) Bebbington, Lorraine (Douglas) Gillespie. They had 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  Olive lived a long and wonderful life and is now at peace in heaven with her Lord and Saviour.  The family would like to thank the Regina Gardens nursing home and all the staff on Mohawk Trail for their wonderful care of Olive in her final days.
