Mike John posted a condolence

Dera Micheline, Patrick, Louise and John,
It was with great sadness to hear of John's passing.
Although too many years have passed since I last saw John, I have many great memories of the times our families met, whether in England or Canada.
I remember John as a quiet man but with a wicked sense of humour.
Always ready with a funny line or observation.
I remember when I was a pupil at St. Ambrose college when John and Micheline took Patrick for a tour with the headmaster.
John was not impressed by the headmaster and later said he thought they were being shown around the school by the goddamn janitor !
His love and devotion to his family was obvious to all who knew him.
He just seemed to have a calmness about him.
I am so glad my parents asked John to be my godparent as he was genuine, honest and a true gentleman.
Thanks for the memories John
All or condolences Mike and Michelle John.

My condolences to the Hughes family at this challenging time. We lived up the street on Spruceside Avenue, and spent time playing as children. Fond memories include playing on the street, afternoon picnics at the Dundas Driving Park and visits to your home on John Street. I remember Mr. Hughes' gentle manner and expressive eyes. Thank-you for your kindness throughout my early life.
Peace. Peter Ormond
PS. My Mother Louise also sends prayers and condolences.

Dear Micheline and family,
Our sincere condolences at Mark's passing, he will be sorely missed.
Mark would tell stories about his family memories both in England and Canada. It would alway bring a smile to his face. Family was everything to him. We thank you for the memories of family summer barbeques, weddings, birthdays and anniversaries.
Your loss will be hard to bear, but together you can heal and know that he will always be with you.
Love from us both, Margaret and Tony Cliff

Sincere condolences to Micheline, Patrick (Rose), John, Louise (Andrew) and Abby and Charlotte ,
.
I met Mark in 1964, we became friends and business partners opening several hairstyling businesses in Hamilton, St.Catharines and Niagara Falls. We also dabbled in real estate. Mark could turn his hand from wallpapering to laying gas lines, all learned from his family's businesses in England. We ventured into the Antiques business importing from England and Quebec.
We had many great times together.
Mark was a good partner to have. A true entrepreneur.
Hard working and honest.
Very well liked.
He is missed.
RIP dear friend,
Tony Cliff

Just wanted to say how very sorry I am to hear the news about John. He was always so kind and generous, especially to Tracey, Mark, Sacha and Jasper who were made so welcome and who became of part of your Canadian family when they came to Canada 20 years ago. You’ve always been so welcoming on my visits too. You will be sadly missed. Rest in peace John - you fought some hard to stay with us. Jean Leigh x

Dear Micheline and Family,
It is with great sadness that we are writing this after you told us of John's passing.
At the same time it immediately brought back memories of the many times we had spent together.
Tony met John many years ago in Sale England and formed a friendship that lasted, despite living far apart.
So strong was this bond that when are son Michael was born in 1965 that we asked John to be his godfather which he was honoured to accept, albeit by proxy.
When our two families met, either in Canada or here in England it was as if we had only spoken last week. That is surely a sign of lasting friendship and a deep respect for each other.
We can recall many times sat round a table enjoying a meal and and a conversation. It was obvious that John and Micheline just loved these times. Micheline chatting and John smiling 'yes dear'. It was easy to see that they had a perfect understanding of each other.
John had an interesting life in business, always striving to provide a happy home and security for the future. It was as a husband, father and grandfather that John was at his most content, he loved all his family.
We will always remember John as a kind and gentle man.
Love and God bless,
Tony and Chris.
