Obituary of Karen Newport
NEWPORT, Karen (nee Jamieson)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Karen Newport, due to an unknown blood clot, at her home in Stoney Creek on Saturday, June 6, 2020.
Karen was born in Fergus on September 12, 1976, she lived 3 years in Alma but did most of her growing up in Burlington where she met Christopher (Chris) Newport. Chris and Karen were married on May 26, 2001 and purchased a home in Stoney Creek.
Karen is survived by her husband Chris, her two daughters Alexis and Kaitlyn, Karen’s brothers, Christopher Jamieson and Jennifer (McGregor), Jeffrey Jamieson and Lindsey (Harrison), as well as Chris’ brother and sister, Jeff Newport, Kevin and Wendy (Newport) Adams. She is also survived by her parents Paul and Lynda (Oakman) Jamieson, her Grandmother, Wilma Jamieson, and Chris’s Mom Carol (Hacon) Newport, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Karen attended MM Robinson High School in Burlington and Sheridan College in Oakville. After graduating, Karen worked at AIC in Burlington and later for State Farm (Desjardin) Insurance.
Karen lit up the room with her smile and loved to laugh. She always looked at the humorous side of life.
Karen will be remembered as a shopper, she had a built-in radar to find the best bargains. She was never selfish with her purchases and always had someone in mind for the best gifts. She had a real knack for getting everyone the best deals.
The Newports travelled over the years but Karen’s most cherished vacation memories were always from her time spent at The Oakman’s Cottage in Sauble Beach. Fun times were had during the family trip to Disney World and her vacation in Bermuda.
Above all, family was most important to Karen. She always looked forward to visits in Fergus and Elmira to see her Grandmothers and created many fond memories by gathering together in her parents backyard pool. Her husband Chris was the love of her life and her daughters were what made her most proud in this world.
Forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for contributions to be made towards an Education Fund for Karen’s daughters.
