My Condolences to your families Claudette, Cheryl, and John.
I always enjoyed when Dad (Keith Gilroy) would mention we would be visiting the Nash’s during one of our trips back to Hamilton. The farm on 20 HWY was intriguing, the walks through the vine yards, picking cherries from the trees and grapes from the vines, the drunk crows falling out of the trees, the stuffed fox in the basement and hearing stories of Dad and Brian’s childhood adventures. Brian had an interesting voice that I never forgot.

Claudette.
Your parents and Rod's parents were such good friends. I remember going to your trousseau tea
Although I did not know Brian, I believe he and Rod hunted together in better days,
I know you have been going through sad times and thought more than once of calling you to offer support. As we have only seen each other twice in over 55 years I was afraid I might be intruding.
Unfortunately, now the grieving will begin. It is ongoing, but hopefully the following may be of some help.
"After being together for over 59 years, I have learned that grief is really love. It's all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go."
My deepest and sincere condolences to you and your family.

While I have lots of great memories of Brian, my uncle, the one I am most grateful for happened at my father’s celebration of life, just a mere 18 months ago. There was a pause in the celebration and the attendees were asked if anyone had anything they wanted to say about my father. As the eldest son, I absolutely should have taken to the microphone and said something eloquent and wonderful about him. Yet I didn’t, because I knew I wouldn’t have been able to get 2 words out without breaking down and sobbing uncontrollably. But no one else was taking the mic either, which briefly left me with the fear that no one was going to say anything. Then Brian stepped up and filled the void that I just couldn’t on that day. Brian wasn’t the man he used to be - his body was failing him, his voice was weaker, but he took to the mic, himself crying while talking, but soldiered on to deliver his speech. It did then, and always will, mean the world to me. Thank you Brian. You will be missed but definitely not forgotten.
