Dear Zabukovec family: I just learned of Mary's passing and wanted to express my deepest condolences to you all. My father, Stan Terhljan, was friends with Mary and Izador during his time living in Hamilton when he came to Canada from Slovenia. I recall from my childhood in the early to mid 1960's when our family went to Sv. Gregor (when it was just built) and hearing about the many bunny rabits that Mr, & Mrs. Zabukovec used to raise. My condolences to the entire family. May the sharing of your memories bring all of you comfort and peace and give you renewed strength for tomorrow. My parents purchased Mary's parent's farm in 1964. They would occasionally see or hear about each other through the Slovenian community. I remember chatting with Mary at Lipa Park a few years ago. She told me a bit about how her parents came to Beamsville from northern Ontario and the history of the Slovenian community. I really enjoyed hearing the story. In December Mary attended visitation for my dad. It meant a lot to our family and my dad would have been honoured that she came.
