Sadly, the family of Janet Jefferies announce her sudden and unexpected passing. Janet is predeceased by her Father Arthur, Mother Helen as well as her brother John, survived by sister-in-law Elizabeth Jefferies. She will be sadly missed by nephew Cory Jefferies, niece Samantha Pellegrino (Frank) and her great-nephews Simon and John-Patrick, great-niece Sara Turner (Cam) and special great-great-niece Lucy as well as her cousin Elaine Serbowski and many, many family members from near and far. Janet loved her dear friends, sharing stories of their adventures and how much they meant to her. She loved animals. Her special pet companion Oscar will miss her so much. He has been lovingly adopted by a family who knows him and will keep him happy and safe. An avid traveler, Janet recently discovered her Jewish heritage and traveled to Israel among many other wonderful destinations. Janet loved education and taught at Mohawk College for many years until retirement in the medical secretarial program, reading, cooking and volunteering. One of her favourite places to be was with people who benefitted from pet therapy. Oscar, who was a trained pet therapy dog, would tag along with her as Janet would meet new people. There are many people who touched Janet’s life through the medical profession, adjudicating and the many clubs she enjoyed. We are so sad to see her go, incredibly grateful for our time together and know that we will see her again. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 14 at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment in Eastlawn Cemetery.
