I was not yet 35 when I met the power house that was Doris ....and without realizing it she spoke into my life that women are leaders. She was the first I had ever met that moved with such a force of conviction that we must be surrendered to listening prayer with God.
My early public life in making the move from secular to Christian media was deeply shaped by Doris, I doubt I would have understood the new realm I stepped into if it had not been for her coaching, her hospitality to me, and her prayers for me.
She is having a party in heaven !

The ultimate difference in Jim and Doris' life was the power of the gospel. Though, like the rest of us they weren't perfect, they had a hope and purpose that went beyond pursuit of worldly power or riches. Whether sponsoring missionaries, orphanages, or providing for other outwardly Christian works, or by the way they faithfully provided an ethical environment so staff and suppliers could honor God for themselves, they had far reaching impact across the globe. We are grateful for Jim and Doris' lives, and now celebrate with you, together, the reality of their presence with the King! They are more alive now than ever, and through them we are reminded of the grace and love of God reaching to each of us so we might have their hope, and live with purpose they so well modeled. Mary Lou and I want to offer the entire Shaw family our prayers and condolences as you transition from grief to anticipation in seeing them both again (John 14.1-3).
