Obituary of Robert Douglas Staats

STAATS, Robert Douglas

May 27, 1939 – September 3, 2017

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his devoted family, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in his 79th year. Robert will be missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Verda. Dedicated father of sons Paul (Wendy), John (Michelle) and Dean. Predeceased by his sister Jackie (Henri). Robert is survived by his sisters Susanne (John), Jean (Mel) and Linda. Grandfather to Penelope (Matthew), Dakota, Jesse and great-grandfather to Taylor and Wendy. A significant part of Robert’s life were sisters-in-law Dolly (Ralph), Shirley, Ina (Graham) and predeceased by Emma (Paul). Robert is also survived by his many nieces and nephews. Robert will be sadly missed by many other relatives and friends. Robert will always be remembered for his generosity toward family and friends and for being a true gentleman in every respect. Robert’s wishes were that those who knew him celebrate his memory in their own fashion. Additionally, the family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Doctor Anne Boyle, Kathleen Willison and Doctor Joe Pellizzari for their compassion and care, and all of the healthcare personnel at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their extraordinary support of Robert during his final weeks.
