Obituary of Kenneth Frederick Gilbert

GILBERT, Kenneth Frederick

The family of Kenneth Frederick Gilbert sadly announce his passing at the age of 78 as the result of complications from diabetes on Monday, August 7, 2017.  Survived by his loving wife, Susan, Ken was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Christine Gilbert, and his beloved daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Michelle. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathleen Prince, Lynne Bigg (Gary David), Judy Gilbert, and Bill  (Ginette) Gilbert, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by John (Gillian) Collins, Dr. F. William Collins (Kate Harrigan), Mary-Louise (Ken) Gilmour, Douglas (Connie) Collins and a special “Uncle Ken” to their families.  Born and raised in the Ottawa Valley, Ken came  in the mid-1960's to teach at Grimsby Secondary School, and fell in love with the whole  Niagara Region. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Saturday, August 12^th from 12 noon until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m.  In Ken’s memory, memorial donations to the Diabetes Society or the Cancer Society.
