MAXWELL, Robert (Bob)
Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous and valiant battle, on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the age of 69. Devoted and loving fiancé and partner to Nancy Cooper. Cherished and adored father of Kathleen and Kristine (Jeff Morley) and grandfather of Abigail. Dear friend of Kyle (Karolynne), Alaina (Stuart) and Tarra-Lynn. Beloved big brother of Diana (Dennis Klodt), Susan (Keith Woods), Jeannette (Mike Sabodach), Heather (Dave Butka) and the late David and Danny Maxwell. He will be remembered by his sisters-in-law Margaret and Karene and many nieces and nephews. Bob will forever be remembered for his ‘hysterical shenanigans’ with his best buddies Chad Maxwell, Ian James, Peter Abi-Rashed, Bob Ward and Justice Bernie Zabel. Bob was hired on the Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Police Department on August 7, 1973 and was a respected and distinguished officer. He was also the founder of the Police Honour Guard. Bob retired on December 31, 2005 as a Staff Sergeant after 32 years of service but continued to lead the Honour Guard with dedication and passion for over 8 years. Special thank you to the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital step-down unit and ICU for their care and compassion and a very special thank you to Dr. Amer and Dr. Finley. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Bob’s Funeral Service will be held at Stoney Creek United Church (corner of King St. and Lake Avenue) on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. (Do not be late).
