Though it appears to be many years delayed I want to express my deepest condolences for the loss of your father, husband. I worked with Al at Ultramar back in 1995. Al was a terrific leader and mentor to me. The thing that stands out the most in my memories of Al was how much he loved and adored his family. His wife and son were his pride and joy and he wore it well. You must miss him dearly. God bless.

as a very close friend to the family, and good friends with his son alphonse destro since we were about 4, i would just like to say, you were like a second father to me. all the memories we shared, all the talks, the advice. you have truly touched my life, and inspired me to become so much like you. you were a very amazing father, and i will never ever forget you. when i always used to call to speak to alphonse i was nicknamed your "girlfriend" well even though your in heaven now, dont think i forgot . . you will always be my boyfrind :)

I am sadden to hear of this event. Al and I shared many laughs and inspiration in our times with Ultramar. I will remember him for his playfulness and love of things Italian and as a proud Hamiltonian

Am very saddened to hear about Al's passing. He was a good, supportive neighbour to me when I lived at Edgewater and I enjoyed many discussions with him about life, people and work. Al was tough but the kind of guy whose word was his bond and on whom you could always count for a straight, honest answer. No words can express how heartbroken I feel for dear Alphonse and Sherry. I can't imagine how difficult it is to say good-bye. May God Bless you and keep you safe in His grace.

I remember when the Destro's lived on John St. and my dad would drive Al's sister Michelle and I to school. I also remember the smell of pasta that Al's mom would cook when I would go over. This is a very sad time for all of us and especialy for his son, parents and brothers and of course Michelle his only sister. I am unable to make it today for the visitation but know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers Michelle I am thinking about you and the family. Al was always so kind when he saw me. May he be at peace. He will live on in his son.
