Obituary of Douglas Gordon Chasty

(1930-2014) After a lengthy illness, it is with deep sadness that our family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of Doug, on Monday, December 22, 2014, in his 85th year. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth of 56 years. Loving father to Leanne (Sven) Huegel and Pamela (Steve) Fenerty. Dear Grandad to Chase and Kurt Huegel and Matthew and D.J. Fenerty. Doug will be missed by brother-in- law Philip Moore and family, cousin Elaine Longo, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Doug was always fond of music, singing, and playing the organ. He was a long-time member of the Grimsby Seniors’ Choir. He enjoyed tennis, travelling, and trips to the casino. His lifetime work was in sales, where Doug was always recognized admirably as a “people person.” Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. Private family interment to follow. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society in memory of Doug would be greatly appreciated by the family.
