I am sorry for your loss Ruth and family. Ruth, you and I share more than just the wedding year. We share the December 2014 deaths of our husbands. I felt badly that I was unable to send Christmas Cards this year (my husband died December 27, 2014 from a very short illness). I am now a little lost. I keep busy and I have responsibilities but I just can't believe Ross is not here anymore. We were also 56 1/2 years married. We have 12 grandchildren and two great-granchildren. I have my sister to care for in a nursing home in Burlington and I enjoy visiting her. I just happened to do a Google search when I could not find Doug's name in "Canada 411" and then I understood the reason. I am so sorry for your loss. I know what that is too. May you find healing in all the good memories. I have your grandsons picture on my fridge and I'm sure they are much bigger now. Take care and be strengthened.

Dear Leanne, Sven and family; We are saddened to hear of the loss of your Father and Grandfather at this time of the year. By all accounts he was a wonderful Father and friend to yourself and your sister. Your Mother will miss her lifetime partner.

Dear Ruth and family, We are so sorry to learn of Doug's passing just before Christmas. Mom and Dad have spent the past few days with us in Toronto and they have been sharing so many stories of your time spent together. What a wonderful friendship you have shared all of these years. And to imagine it all started with Mom and Ruth meeting on a bus to work! Those chance meetings and conversations really can last a lifetime. They are very sorry to miss the visitation service. You are all in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days, weeks and months. Sincerely, Lynn Arnott and Tom Oldfield

Dear Ruth and Family, We have so many fond memories of our time spent together. For many years, especially before our children came along, we spent many wonderful times. We are smiling as we remember the vacation we shared at Glen Falls, NY. I remember Doug buying 3 balls before we teed off at the Top of the World course, and losing them all on the first hole. He was none to happy with the investment in balls required to finish the course. On the same trip, we had lots of colour commentary on the water skiing antics of vacationers on the lake... until they challenged us to try it! We are so sorry to learn of Doug's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We are sorry that we will not be able to see you at Doug's visitation on Monday. We are in Florida for the holidays until January 1st. We will be in touch when we get home. With love, John and Jean Arnott
