Obituary of Joan Switzer

Our family is sad to announce that Joan passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the age of 88. Joan is predeceased by her husband Henry (Bud) Frith who died in 1965 and her husband Harley Switzer who died in 2011. She was the loving mother of Richard and Joyce Frith and loving step mother of Bob and Cheryl Switzer, Milly Coulthart, Bill and Diane Switzer and David and Bonnie Switzer. She was the dear grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and dear sister of Fred and Kathie Hodgson. She is predeceased by her father Walter Higginbotham, mother Maude Hodgson and step-father Bernard Hodgson. Joan attended Binbrook United Church where she served enthusiastically in many capacities including church secretary. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff and residents of Riviera Retirement Lodge in Caledonia for their care and friendship. Joan will be remembered for her care for others and her friendliness to all. At Joan’s request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Binbrook United Church on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Binbrook United Church or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
