Off all the teachers I had over the years, Miss Ainsworth has the greatest impact on me. Her readings of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five novels had me spellbound and I passed that gift on to my own children. Her love of vocabulary and teaching us new and interesting words (I still remember and use them all: indignant, forlorn, reluctant, and many others) fostered my love of language and the desire to learn as much as I could. My biggest regret is that I never had the chance to tell her. xo
