Obituary of Margaret McVittie
After a long life of service to church, community, family and friends, Margaret passed away comfortably on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Wentworth Lodge, Dundas. Born in Hamilton, December 14, 1912, predeceased by husband Andrew McVittie, parents Myrtle and Fred Davey, sister Mary (John) Mitchell, brother Reg (Agnes) Davey, daughter Betty (Paul) Penton, Mary Lou (Bo) Pierson and granddaughter Margita Pierson. Survived by daughter Peggy (George) Knill and granddaughters Nicole Bakti, Paula Penton, Melissa (Jeff) Mason and Marcia (James) Cooper. Margaret served her community volunteering with such organizations as Red Cross, Cancer Society, Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice and United Church of Canada. In 1987 she was honoured with the Stoney Creek Citizen of the Year Award. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Stoney Creek United Church, 1 King St. W., Stoney Creek on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice or Stoney Creek United Church.
