Obituary of Ilija Strinich

STRINICH, Ilija Peacefully departed January 22, 2009 at Hamilton General Hospital, with his family by his side. Born October 17, 1918 in Ridjane, Dalmacia, Yugoslavia, he was the faithful husband of 58 years to Rose and the devoted father of Peter (Marilyn), Millie Kiely (Wayne), Marie Kachmarsky (Tom Basciano, d. 2007) and Stephanie Reid. Loving Dido to Tara and Jason (Carla) Strinich, Natalie (Detta Moss) and Erica Kachmarsky (Dan Hemsworth), Graham and Derek Reid. Ilija was a long-time member of Winona Chetnik (Ravna Gora), and St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral. Family will receive friends at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Dr., Stoney Creek on Sunday, January 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Pomen will take place at 7:30 p.m. with The Very Reverend Lazar Vukojev officiating. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday, January 26 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, 149 Nash Rd. S., Hamilton, with interment to follow at Mountview Cemetery, Stoney Creek.
