Joyce Lahosky

Obituary of Joyce Lahosky

LAHOSKY, Joyce (nee Crawford) With unbelievable courage and a crazy sense of humour, Joyce fought an 18 month battle with IPF. Through it all she never lost hope of receiving a transplant and taught us all what true spirit is. In the end, she was not the recipient but the donor to some very lucky people who will live life more fully because of her gift. She would have loved that! It breaks our hearts to announce that on Saturday, October 11, 2008 with her family holding her tight, the world lost one of the best mothers, nanas, sisters and friends that ever lived. She made us fight the fight along side her because we couldn’t imagine life without her in it. Joyce will always be cherished by her loving daughters Sandra and her husband Yvon Shank, Kelly and her husband Ron Gyoker and her amazing grandchildren who gave her a reason to live Taylor & Dane Gyoker and Elisse and Darryl Shank. Her brother Carman Crawford and Joyce’s best friend Josie who kept her laughing and eating her Triscuits and jalapenos through it all, her twin sister and biggest cheerleader Joan Burford and her husband Jim will never forget the gifts she left them with. Joyce’s journey through life was always with family and friends surrounding her, she loved a good party. Thank you Jenn, Patti, Murt, Jack, Val & Vern for being true friends and always helping when Mom needed you and especially when she didn’t. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. Family and Friends are invited to spend time with us and share memories at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Ave. Dr., Stoney Creek on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to Trillium Gift of Life Network, 522 University Avenue, Suite 900, Toronto, ON M5G 1W7 ,would be appreciated by the family.
