Obituary of Simo Katic

KATIC, Simo It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Simo Katic on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Mirjana for over 54 years, he is also survived by his nephew Simo Katic, his wife Nada, and their children Dario and Nina, his uncle Stevan Katic and family and the families of his brothers-in-law Spiro and Branko Vincic. He also leaves behind the families of his late siblings Jela Borkovic, Milica Zagorac, and Nikola Katic. The families of his late uncles Gojko, Nikica and Bozo Katic and late aunt Draginja Gutic. And the families of his late brothers-in-law Stevan and Dusan Vincic, late sister-in-law Sofija Nikolic, late Kumovi Rade and Marija Vujasinovich and late Kumovi Dragan and Anka Rnic. He also leaves behind so many more loving family and friends in Canada, United States and Serbia. Simo was born in Otisic Dalmacija, the son of late Rade and Cvita Katic. He fought in WWII with the Chetniks, immigrated to England then Canada, worked in Dofasco, was a diligent fruit farmer and bee keeper, and was a founding member of the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and the General Draza Mihailovic Memorial Hall. Visitations will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, February 10th from 2-4 and 7–9 p.m. Pomen will take place at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral, officiated by The Very Reverend Father Djuro Samac will be held at the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 147 Nash Road South, Hamilton on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery, 735 Highway 8, Stoney Creek. Thank you to the staff from the Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), the Alzheimer’s Society and Hamilton General Hospital for their compassion and care.
