Paul, Karen; I was just reflecting on the first time I met your mother, before there was a Karen or a Paul. She was not Aunt Bernadette then, at the time she was Uncle Earls girlfriend, who I was meeting for the first time. It was at a Grey Cup party hosted at your fathers place at the time, I suspect the 1965 Grey Cup. I believe it was a party to not only watch the game, but more importantly to meet Uncle Earls fiancé. Jim & Dorothy were there from the US and I suspect most everyone else in family. I was a kid, probably 13 or 14. Old enough not to get kicked into the "other room" with the kids. Although it was a long time ago I remember distinctly meeting "Bernie" and how friendly and easy to talk to she was. That is a trait that never changed no matter how many times I saw her. When you get to the age I am now, memory is a fading thing, but meeting your mother those many years ago has always stayed with me. It was always a pleasure to sit and chat with Aunt Bernadette. You always came away smiling. She will be missed.
