Obituary of Christian Andrew Hidalgo
March 24 1976 - Dec 19th 2024
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Christian Andrew Hidalgo on Thursday, December 19th, 2024. Christian leaves behind an immense legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness that will be cherished forever.
Christian was a devoted husband to Drazena and a loving father to their son, Sebastian. His family meant the world to him, and he took great pride in being a partner and a father. He was the cherished son of Wendy Dew (Dan) and Jerry Hidalgo (Dolores), and the beloved brother of James Hidalgo (Indhira). Christian was also an incredibly proud uncle to nieces Sabrina and Savannah, and great-niece Gabriella. He is mourned deeply by his in-laws, Marija and Petar Ratkovic, sister-in-law Aleksandra Ratkovic, and nephew Illija Ratkovic. He is also remembered fondly by many other loved ones from both sides of the family, including the Deneault, Linwood, Mooney, and Hidalgo families in the United States, along with a wide circle of friends who were fortunate to know him.
Christian’s kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends made him a pillar in the lives of all who knew him. He was the person you could always count on—whether to share a meal, offer a helping hand, or lift your spirits with his contagious smile. Christian’s ability to connect with others was unmatched, and he was known for making everyone around him feel special and valued. His family was his greatest joy, but his heart also belonged to his community.
Christian’s greatest passion in life was giving back to others, and he dedicated much of his time and energy to his local community. His love for helping others was boundless. Whether he was cooking and sharing meals, organizing charity events, or simply offering his time to those in need, Christian was always ready to serve. He was especially known for his role in organizing the Stoney Creek Easter Egg Hunt, a tradition he founded to bring joy and excitement to local children. His presence at these events became a symbol of his love and care for those around him.
As a proud member of the Lions Club Canada, Christian was instrumental in founding the Stipley Lions Club in Hamilton alongside his best friend, Mike McCoy (Jennifer). His work with the Lions was a true reflection of his deep commitment to helping others. Christian spent countless hours organizing food drives, raising funds for local causes, and ensuring that the less fortunate had access to hot meals and support. His generosity and dedication to improving the lives of others left an indelible mark on the community, and he was loved by so many for his selflessness.
Christian’s untimely passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His big heart, warmth, and infectious spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of crossing his path. While he is no longer with us, his legacy of kindness, love, and service will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
