Obituary of Raffaele (Ralph) Faiella

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on December 3, 2024, in his 95 th year. Ralph was born to Lucia and Raffaele Faiella, on February 2, 1930, in Introdaqua, Abruzzo, Italy.

In 1947 he immigrated to Hamilton together with his mother and siblings where his father had purchased a home on Sherman Avenue North. Quickly he and his brothers familiarized themselves with their neighbourhood, quickly found work, and enjoyed their new life.

In 1953 he met Helen Leone (d. 2023) of Rochester, NY and they married in 1954. They enjoyed 69 years of marriage and together they raised two children, Lorraine Faiella of Stoney Creek and Ralph Faiella (wife Lisa, son Benjamin) of Wasaga Beach, ON. Ralph is mourned by his sisters-in-law Elda Faiella (Tony d.) and Anna Pease (Charlie d.); his brother-in-law Chuck Cometa (Dorothy d.) and is predeceased by his siblings Piacentina (Americo Silvestri); Secondina (Pasquale Spinosa); Luigi and Maria (Frank DeClerico). Ralph was a loved son-in-law of Carmela and Pietro Leone and is predeceased by in-laws Josephine (Bernardino), Anthony (Shirley), and Dominic. Ralph also had many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and paesani throughout Canada, the United States and Italy.

In his youth Ralph was an avid boxer; he loved music, and making the best Manhattan’s. In retirement Ralph and Helen enjoyed winters in Hallandale, Florida. Ralph was determined, strong and loyal. Traits that helped him reach a wonderful age even with the serious health challenges he faced later in life. Cremation has taken place. A private family service and interment will be held at a later date.
