Obituary of Sharon Ruth Adshead

(nee Hoover)

September 22, 1944 - November 23, 2024

Passing away is not an ending but a homecoming. It’s the quiet comfort of knowing you have been carried to a place of peace with the Lord. You have done enough, you are enough and now it’s time to rest. Sharon left us peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024 in her 81st year at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.

Loving and devoted wife and best friend of Donnie for 64 years. Precious mother to Wendy (Duane) Edwards, Sherry (Kevin) Norton and Jeff (Linda) Adshead. Proud Grandma to Chadd (Nicole), Curtis, Hope (Derek), Spencer (Raynia), Emily (Dan), Kyler (Taryn), Owen, Bradley and Jacob (Maddie). The best GG to Teddy, Lydia and Cameron. Special sister-in-law to Frank Adshead (Diane, predeceased). She is reunited with her sweet little girl, Penny Jean, beloved parents Duncan and Jean Hoover, sister Lois (Jack) Bowden, brother Walt (Carole) Hoover, brother Ken (Barb) Hoover, mother-in-law Mary Atherton, sister-in-law, Velva (Blaine) Jacobs. Sharon will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews and remaining relatives that meant so much to her. Those who were blessed to be her cherished friends built memories with her that will always be treasured and never forgotten.

Sharon was proud to be part of the Binbrook community for over 60 years; a faithful member of Binbrook Baptist Church, Binbrook Agricultural Society, Dance Fit instructor and continued to participate actively.  Sharon was happiest celebrating life with her family, which was her greatest joy. She loved being involved and watching her children and grandchildren in every stage of their lives. She will be remembered for the unconditional love, compassion and the genuine interest in others she showed. She had a love of music and took pride in her home where she enjoyed tending to her beautiful gardens and trees. No matter what the challenge she faced, Sharon’s faith gave her courage, strength and determination to meet each new hurdle without complaint and to be an inspiration to all.

Heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and nurses who supported her on this difficult journey. So grateful for palliative nurse Linda and Dr. Saini who were there from the beginning and were instrumental in getting her to the hospice. She was very blessed to have spent her last days in “heaven’s waiting room” as she called it, the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. We will be forever grateful for the kindness and compassion shown by all the staff and volunteers to her and her family. During the weeks that Sharon spent there, she was made comfortable and peaceful and was cared for like family. She became quick witted and built trust and friendships that helped her get through her trials in the end.  We had some of the best of Mom here with lots of laughs.

Donations to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be greatly appreciated and would fulfill Sharon's wishes.

Visitation will be on Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 6-9 p.m. at the Binbrook Baptist Church.
