My condolences to Aunt Lorraine, my cousins Shari, Yvonne, and Miriam, and all of Uncle Jim and Aunt Lorraine’s family.
I am sorry to have learned just now of Uncle Jim’s passing.
Uncle Jim and Aunt Lorraine took me and my sister into their home and cared for us for 5 years in the mid-1970s when my father – Aunt Lorraine’s brother – and my mother were unable to do so. During that time – from age 8 to age 13, formative years indeed – I felt as though I was Uncle Jim’s and Aunt Lorraine’s son. So much so that when I became of age, it was Uncle Jim, not my father, who gave me “the talk”.
Uncle Jim valued hard work and perseverance and he instilled those values in me – he gave me the jobs of unlocking the church and turning on the heat every Sunday morning, of mowing the lawn, of shoveling snow, taking out the garbage, walking the dog, and working at the canteen at Thamesford camp, to name a few. And Uncle Jim was an intellectual man from whom I took inspiration – when he first met my wife Sharon, who is Jewish, at a family reunion in 2001, I was amazed to hear him speak to her in Hebrew! Many other aspects of my character that are integral to who I am today came from him.
I have many fond memories of Uncle Jim. In early fall 1974 he took me – age 9 – with him when he delivered a trailer full of motorcycles to a trade show at the Prince Hotel in Toronto. I remember him in his mechanic’s overalls, working on cars in the driveway while I watched and occasionally helped. I remember him, Aunt Lorraine and any one of their daughters singing together in church as “The Parsonage Trio”. There are many summer vacation memories, in particular I remember Uncle Jim hugging me from behind while we sat on the rocks in a waterfall at a provincial park (there is a slide of this moment). We spent a lot of time together at Thamesford family camp.
Uncle Jim was a good man and the epitome of a true Christian, and even though I had not seen or talked to him for many years, I loved him. He will be fondly remembered.

I still remembered the day that Jim connected with me via Myplace/skype back in around 2010. I was a student from China and planned to attend school in Canada. Jim is a warm, talented, and a strong person. He is my inspiration to stay in Canada, studying and raising a family.
Please accept my deepest condolences. Tong

He impacted my life in many ways. From CYC Camp, to his encouragement to me as a young pastor, to his singing at the graveside of my father’s funeral. Wonderful man of God!

Pastor Carne will be greatly missed by many.
Clarke and I appreciated so very much the ministry of he and Lorraine at the Auburn Church for several years and we enjoyed some very special times together.
I am sure that he is rejoicing with the Lord now and with friends and family gone on before.

Rev. Jim, straight and tall in all aspects of life and ministry! Great memories as a CYC camper of bus rides to Ingersoll swimming, and down to the boats on the Thames. A man who always had a good and gracious word....and that voice! Maple Grove, and the Kingdom was enriched by his beautiful big servant's heart and obvious love for Jesus and passion for souls...whether pastoring churches, preaching, helping ESL students through the internet, or encouraging this "not so young" pastor. Even this summer as we spoke at the back of the Tabernacle, he spoke with enthusiasm of "his new mission field"....the nursing home! You will be missed, dear sir....but we will meet again. Much love to Carne Clan...you are in our prayers.

The Carnes had a huge influence on our lives during our youth. We will always remember Jim driving the bus into the Ingersol pool from camp. We think it is wonderful that the service will be held at the camp.
Can hear Jim sing - "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!"

Uncle Jim, as he affectionately become, was a great influence in my life and our family. So many memories of Carne/ Babcock vacations, anniversary parties (where it wasn't uncommon to eat a cake, made in a frying pan),. We often hid under a table, bed, behind a couch or in a closet just waiting for the perfect moment to pop out yelling happy birthday, anniversary, at a shivver or just surprise!! Laughing till we cried & sometimes until ears ran down our legs. Praying at an altar, singing together at hymn sings, worship, fellowship around a campfire, CYC and family camps, our parents and Uncle Jim & Aunt Lorraine working site by side. So many hugs, happy moments and times of grief shared. We simply did life together. Right up until this July at Camp, I was still his " Catrinka". Thanking God for gifting all our lives with such a great man, with a heart for God and a passion to lead others to his best friend, Jesus, those around him, whether at home or abound. This world was a greater place, having had Jim Carne in it.
Love & Prayers Bruce & Cathy Catrinka ( Babcock) Langstaff

I will never forget getting to sing with Jim at an Easter Youth Crusade. I felt so small standing beside such a “BIG” man of God. Following Jim and Lorraine at Wabash we heard such glowing reports of their good works for their Lord.He is definitely singing with the angels now.

As a preachers kid I remember the bond that my dad John Fletcher had with Jim. They had circuits that were close and developed a real friendship. I also remember my years at CYC and Jim was the bus driver and the fun we had. He was such a fixture at camp that it won’t be the same without him but I’m sure him and my dad have reunited in heaven. Love to all
