All of his dear friends on Edgewater are deeply saddened by Chris's passing. Chris was an integral part of our community and a delightful member of our walking group. We spent a good hour every day walking, with Chris peddling along, and chatting about the news of the day -- and, of course, the latest wins and losses in the sports world. Chris kept us informed of the news in the community.
Each fall, when I am out raking leaves, I think of Chris's advice that it would be much easier for me to use a leaf blower.
We were all very sad to see you leave our community. May you rest in peace, dear friend.

Chris….Our walks together with Calvin & Penny will be forever cherished. Cal was much too big for your scooter so he ran beside you & Penny would hop along with you for a ride at times. You’d visit our yard, waiting at the fence with that big smile of yours, had a ball and/or treats in your pocket for the dogs, and loved to talk about sports, the neighbourhood & life. You will forever be remembered and dearly missed. Rest easy Friend…. Will never forget you.

Many people walk in and out of our lives, but certain people, like Chris leave footprints in your heart.
He was our connection with "what's new" on Edgewater Drive and we missed him the day he moved away.
Chris' happy heart and kind ways will always be fondly remembered. We light a candle for Chris on the Tribute Wall and in our home.
Sending our heartfelt condolences to the Smillie family.....

I confess I didn’t know Chris as well as the rest of the Smillie family. I was around 16 when he was born. It was late at night when my Mom woke me, saying I was to look after Rob while Mary Lou was delivering. If I remember correctly they had bunk beds. I slept on the bottom. If Rob had that bunk, I probably curled up with him. Over the years we saw each other at family events like the 50th wedding anniversary. One day, while riding his bike, he had a bad fall (like, bad) and came to my house to be bandaged. That guy was Teflon, let me tell ya. The last time we saw each other was at Edgewater, where Jim & Mary Lou cooked up a delicious bbq on their patio. Sweet, gentle, smiling man. Rest in peace. Condolences to Rob & girls

To Chris’s remaining family.. so vey saddened to read of Chris’s passing. Having been a neighbour of the Smillie family Smillie on Edgewater Drive for 20+ years we have such fond memories. Chris always had a smile on his face and a dog treat in his pocket.
He loved humans and animals all with the same genuine feelings, and that love was reciprocated by all the lives he touched.
RIP Chris, you did your earthly job well, bringing smiles to the faces of the people fortunate enough to know you. You can now rest easy in the arms of your Mom & Dad for all eternity.
The Langley Family,
Edgewater Drive 1997-2022

I am so saddened and shocked to hear of Chris’s passing. I have such fond memories of him on Edgewater. Often he would stop by on his bike to say hello and off he went again. He was crushed with the loss of both his parents and eventually left Edgewater to be closer to his remaining family. We stayed in touch on Messenger . God wanted His servant home - rest in peace my friend. You will be missed. Joanne Joosse

I can't believe it! Chris was a cherished member of the Edgewater gang. I missed him greatly when he moved to St. Catharines and missed our many talks. Rest in peace, Chris. The good Lord always takes the precious ones.
