Obituary of Mildred Kosnik

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mildred (Millie) in her 102nd year. Predeceased by her loving husband Casey in 1985 and sister Bernice Kryzan. Many lives were touched by all who knew her as "Millie". Family was everything to her. She was a devoted wife to Casey for over 35 years. She leaves behind her children Larraine Kosnik, Marian Galley, and Robert (Alison) Kosnik with his stepchildren Corrina and Max along with many family relatives.

Millie grew up in Hamilton as a daughter of businessman Paul Kryzan and his wife Mary Kryzan (nee Nazarewicz). She was fun loving and sporty, enjoying a drink at parties. In her youth, she played tennis, as an adult she took up golf and downhill skiing. In later years, she travelled across Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States. She shared many good times with friends and family at her beloved “cottage” in Fruitland on Lake Ontario where she lived for over 70 years. With a glint in her eye she was always feisty, even successfully battling breast cancer at age 90.

Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Hamilton General Hospital, who provided comfort care in her final days. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, July 18, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Roman Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St Stanislaus Church, 8 Saint Anne St, Hamilton on Friday, July 19th at 11 a.m. Donations to Breast Cancer Canada would be appreciated by the family.
