Obituary of Mary Jovetic
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Maria (Mary) Jovetic (née Feichtinger) on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Mary died peacefully at 95 years old in the presence of family at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario.
Predeceased by her husband, Petar, the two met in England after the Second World War and married in 1952. Mary came to Canada with Petar in 1956 and settled in Hamilton, Ontario where they built their lives together, nurtured, and uplifted their family and community until their deaths. Mary is survived by her two sons, Alexander and Milan (Mike), daughters-in-law Mona and Lysa, and grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Jason, and Caroline. In addition to all she cherished on this side of the world, Mary’s heart held the deepest of love for her brothers and sisters back in her homeland of Austria: Simon, Walter, Agnes, Katharina, Helma, and Lisie.
For over 50 years, Mary sold and delivered Avon to many customers who always seemed to be more like acquaintances and friends. Mary cared deeply for all her cats and was able to nurse plants and flowers from sprouts into budding displays of beauty and grace. Mary’s guiding principle in life was to treat all with love and compassion no matter who they were. Mary nurtured and cared deeply for everyone, be it family, friends, or strangers. Her presence in this world will be missed, and her absence will certainly be felt by not just those named above, but all who had the privilege to be blessed by her love. Although she is no longer with us, she is forever memorialized in our thoughts and memories of all the times she made us feel loved. We take comfort in knowing that now she can be reunited with all of those gone before her, and can bring that same love back to them.
A Visitation and Service will be held for family and friends at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home in Stoney Creek on Monday, May 27, 2024. The Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. and a Service will be held shortly after at 1 p.m. Mary will be taken to Mountview Gardens Cemetery after to be laid to rest next to her dearly beloved late husband, Petar.
In lieu of flowers, and with respect to her enduring love for animals, flowers, and plants – donations to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA or Royal Botanical Gardens would be sincerely appreciated.
