Obituary of Leroy James Alexis

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Leroy James Alexis (Brains) of Stoney Creek, Ontario, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 85. Born in June of 1938, on the beautiful spice island Grenada West Indies; He was the eldest son of Clarisse Bullen and Dorel Alexis.

Leroy is survived by his children Roger (married to Lisa) and Rosamond (married to Nigel), A proud grandfather of Anthony, Alexis, Jordan, Tyler, Kassandra, Oneil, as well as his great-grandchildren La’ Niah, Karter and was excited of the birth of Malakai although he did not get to meet him. He leaves behind his sister’s Gloria, Doreen, and Jennifer along with brothers Scratch, Michael, Victor, Tony, and Lawrence.

Leroy at a young age had a strong mechanical acumen for problem solving and fixing things (this is where he got the name brains), a self-taught heavy machine operator and mechanic that allowed him an opportunity to travel to Canada to continue his passion with machines. Leroy was a quiet/gently man, who was devoted to ensuring the well been of his family. Leroy and Vinetta raised their two children in Burlington, when the economy got bad in the 80’s he had an opportunity to move to Newfoundland where he continued to work on heavy machines. A devoted grandfather who loved kicking the soccer ball with his great grandson, taking long walks with his family (though we were too slow for him), talking cars with his son and grandsons, tinkering with his '73 Mustang.
