John was well respected in the science education community. As a new teacher, my first introduction to science safety workshops was his safety presentation to Lambton Kent DSB many year ago. He was a great resource person for science labs and safety. Always ready to help. My condolences to his family.

For several years, I was a colleague of John at Brock. He was a man of strong convictions, and very passionate in his beliefs - a very good role model for student teachers. My condolences to his family on their loss.

Bob Mroz, Brock, Faculty of Education
I was so saddened to hear of John’s passing. I had the pleasure of teaching and working with John at Brock for most of the past 10 years. He had a passion for teaching Science and he tried to instill that passion into all the teacher candidates. His remarkable career as an educator has made a difference for many. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with John and the family at this time.

I first met John when I joined the STAO Safety Committee back in 1990. He immediately made me feel welcome, and we were colleagues on the Committee until he finally retired from STAO affairs. It was my pleasure to nominate him for a STAO Life Membership Award. He was a dedicated enthusiastic science teacher with an amazing grasp of safety issues. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to the Henry family on your loss.

I taught with John in the Glendale SS Science Dept. from 1979 to 1984 and then worked for John as the Environmental/Outdoor Education teacher out of the Hamilton Board office in 1995 when he was the Science Coordinator. John was a great leader and promoter of science education and a friend. It was a rewarding experience to work with him. We retired from the secondary school panel together in 1998. I see that John kept right on teaching. So sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to Marie and their family.
