To my mother
Everything I am, I am because of you. You taught me right from wrong, compassion and to always put myself in others shoes. You shared your artistic talent teaching me creativity, passion and self expression. You showed me the simple joys in life like walking barefoot in mud puddles after the rain. You taught me hard work and that anything is possible. You showed me love and the important of family and coming together for a meal every night. You gave so much good advice like always talk through your problems and never go to bed angry. You taught me that you don’t need money to have the time of your life, you simply need good food, and good people, and maybe a little wine. I admire the strength and courage you possessed as life was not always easy for you. No matter the obstacles in life you showed us there is always a bright side. I loved how you connected to music and always had some playing. You lived your life so passionately, lighting up every room you entered with your beautiful smile and warming laugh. You had the ability to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable in your presence. You were the most thoughtful, giving person I’ve ever known, you make everyone feel special. I am so blessed to have had you in every part of my life as my teacher, my councillor, my voice of reason, my shoulder to cry on, my spoiler of grandchildren, my theatre companion and my closest friend.
