Obituary of William "Bill" Joseph Church

William Joseph Church, known as "Bill" to most, "Dad" to his daughters, or "Papa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchild, was born on May 28, 1951. He passed away peacefully at 11:48AM on Wednesday, March 13th at the age of 73, surrounded by his family. Son of John and Kathleen Church, Bill is survived by his sister, Valerie Dunn. Bill will be missed deeply and cherished always by his loving wife of 50 years, Judy Church, his two daughters Amanda Huynh (Thanh Huynh) and Carrie Peterson (Mark Peterson), his four beloved grandchildren Kaitlyn Schirmer, Kaylie Church, Owen and Chloe Peterson and his great-grandson Harrison Whitlow.

Bill began a long and faithful career at Stelco from 1971 - 2009 until his retirement. Bill was a lover of music, vintage cars and travelling. He loved to take his family on long road trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida. He passed down his sweet tooth to both of his daughters and a few of his grandchildren too, leaving them with cherished memories of the sweet treats he always kept by his favorite lazy boy chair. Above all, he loved to spend time with his family and loved to babysit their pets too. Bill will be forever loved by his family and always held in their hearts.

Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
