Obituary of Licia Mary Olivieri
December 26, 1932 - February 25, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Nonni and NonniB (Bisnonna). Loving wife of 72 years to Clark Olivieri and cherished mom to Brian and Lorna, Karen and Sam Destro, Donna, Dennis and Sandra. Grandchildren Michael Destro and Christine and Adrian Sniatala. Great-Grandchild Andrea Sniatala.
Licia was the oldest of three daughters born to parents Maria and Giocondo Del Col. Licia leaves behind sister Lillian and Elio (deceased) Moro and Gloria and Phil Castrodale as well as nieces and a nephew.
Licia grew up on Brightside in Hamilton where she met her husband Clark and married in 1952. She worked for a number of years at Westinghouse and thereafter started her family, dedicating her life to her husband and four children. She spent many summers at the cottage in Sauble Beach enjoying family activities. Her passions were gardening and sewing whereby she started working for the Sears Drapery Department. Eventually she left Sears to set up her own drapery business at home. Many years later she retired from the drapery business and enjoyed working part-time for Robinson's/The Bay Lingerie Department. Another love was travelling with her husband, family and friends on numerous trips throughout the Caribbean.
Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, February 29, from 4 pm to 8 pm. Cremation will take place during the following days and burial to take place at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery as a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
God saw you getting tired,
and a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around you,
And whispered, "Come with me"
And saw you pass away:
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
We will miss you and love you forever mom.
