I first met Jess when she started working with the SAIT Students Association and I was elected volunteer director. She was an amazing individual inside and out. The amount of kindness that she she showed myself and other members was unparalleled. Her strong character and love for people are is what really stood out about her as an individual. You're deeply missed by your friends and family. Thank you for bringing joy and compassion too others. I will miss you a lot Jess!
I offer my sincerest condolences to the Powell family.
Rest in peace Jess

To know Jess, is to love Jess. She was an incredible, strong, thoughtful, hilarious, warm-hearted, amazing human. We worked together at SAIT Students' Association (Saitsa) back in 2018. When I was new to Saitsa, Jess was one of the first people to fully welcome me to the company. We emailed back and fourth and eventually started spending our lunch breaks together. Then at the company retreat we really bonded, we did the ropes course together and I am super afraid of heights but Jess of course was so supportive, she made that retreat the best time with her light and ease. We also went to the Stampede as a company and we had so much fun as always.
My favourite memory with Jess would probably be when we were hanging out at my house and she saw my dvd collection of The Simple Life with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, she said something along the lines of "omg, you like the Simple Life? It's one of my favourite shows!!" So naturally we popped a bottle of wine and laughed so much with Paris and Nicole working at Sonic. We also would sing "Sanasa sanasa sanasa" at each other (it's from the show hahaha).
Her positive and warm energy always made anyone around her feel at ease and warm.
My thoughts are with Jess's family, her friends, and anyone's life who was touched by Jess's warmth and care.
Love you, Jess.

Jess and I have so many memories together, where do I even begin? We first met at the age of 5, so long ago that I can't recall whether it was during kindergarten or piano lessons. Since then we shared numerous life events, including birthday parties, school functions, graduations, bonfires, weddings, cottage weekends, and many more.
But my most cherished memories with Jess will always stem from our piano studies. I will never forget the two of us giggling at the back of our Christmas concerts- we were so obnoxious and disruptive. Remembering the sound of her laughter never fails to bring a smile to my face. We consistently supported each other, whether we were studying theory, backstage at competitions, performing at recitals, or during exams. Reflecting on those challenging times, I realize I wouldn’t have gotten through them without the support and friendship we shared. She always pushed me to be a better, more ambitious person. From an early age, she was always someone I looked up to.
Our last few memories together were some of the most special moments we had ever shared. It has been a rare and beautiful gift to move through 25 years of friendship together and I am forever grateful to have known and loved her.
Pat, Kathy, and Alicia- my heart is so heavy for you during this tragic loss and I wish you my heartfelt condolences. The pain and sorrow you share are only a testament to the incredible person she was. I know her youthful spirit will live on and I hope some of these memories can offer comfort and solace during this challenging journey of healing.
I will be thinking of her with every note a piano sings- rest in peace my beautiful friend.

Jessica was such a sweet and kind soul. I had a battle with cancer myself and I connected with Jessica through a mutual friend. We would speak sometimes and find comfort in hearing from someone else who has gone through a similar experience as us. We would offer advice to each other and keep each other updated. She was always so positive and had the kindest words to say. My deepest condolences to Jessica’s family and friends. I will keep her in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Jessica and I met in the library before kindergarten, and from that moment, our bond began. Through the years, she became my confidante, offering solace during heartaches and sharing in life's joys.
Her courage, hardworking spirit, and unyielding faith were unwavering till the end. Despite life's twists, our friendship endured, and I'm grateful for a recent reconnection in her final months.
My deepest condolences go out to Jessica's family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the beautiful memories shared with her.
If only we could watch one more episode of "The Simple Life" together. That shared laughter remains etched in my heart, a testament to the joy she brought into our lives.
Rest in peace, Jessica.
