Obituary of Basil Lanslot Vernon

May 2, 1942 - January 22, 2024

Basil passed away peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital. He was raised in Manchester, Jamaica and at the age of 18 moved to England. Basil was 25 when he moved to Canada where he met his lovely wife of 53 years, Elsie. Basil was the proud father of 3 sons; James (Laurie), Martin and Lewis (Elizabeth). Adoring grandpa to Winston, Faith and Celia. Basil was a caring brother, uncle, friend, and mentor to many.

Retired from Stelco with over 30 years of service, he loved to spend time with friends and family, especially playing his passions of cricket, golf, and dominos. He cherished his time with family, most of all the family dinners where he always prepared his delicious cooking. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nursing Team at Juravinski Hospital for their compassion during his time of need.

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 26th at 11 a.m. To watch the Livestream of the Funeral Service, please CLICK HERE. Interment to follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.
