Obituary of Milan Petko

March 8, 1941 ~ January 5, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Milan Petko on January 5, 2024 at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. Milan was born to parents +Ciro and +Djurdjija on March 8, 1941, in Uzdolje - Kosovo - Dalmatia in the former Yugoslavia.

Milan was pre-deceased by his brothers +Petar (Ljubica), +Sava (Janja), +Dusan (Rosa), +Bosko (Ika).

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Milan is survived by Jovanka, his loving wife of 62 years, their three children, Karadjordje (Denise), Aleksandar (Branka), Aleksia (Todd), and grandchildren (Milosh, Mihailo, Toplica, Nastazia), and siblings Ilija (Vida), Nikola (+Katica), Stana(+Mladen), and Milica.

Milan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including: Vladimir (Milka), Dragan (Snezana), Milosh (Sophia), Marko (Vesna), Julie (Branko), and Milan, Zeljko (Jasminka), Robert, Milan (Nedina), Dragoljub (Sanja), Srboljub (Stana), Petar, Milica (Aleksandar), Ines, and Boris (Branka).

Milan was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, as well as the Movement of Serbian Cetniks Ravna Gora (Winona Chapter). He served as president of both. As a local farmer and business owner, Milan was a dedicated member of his community and thrived on making connections with all.

Milan’s giving spirit, positive outlook, and open heart will be profoundly missed by his entire family, Kumovi, and friends around the world. May his Memory be Eternal.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of Juravinski and St. Joseph’s Hospitals for their kind and compassionate care.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, followed by services at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, 149 Nash Road South, on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11 a.m.  Interment at Mountview Gardens Cemetery.
