Obituary of John Muraca

With deep sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of our cherished husband, father, and papa, John Muraca, into the arms of our heavenly Father on December 27, 2023, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family. John was the beloved and devoted husband of Antonietta Muraca for a beautiful 58 years. He was the proud and loving father of Joe, Tony (Carolin), Clara, and Rosemary (Fil). His memory will be forever etched in the hearts of his grandchildren: Zach, Filipe, Sofia, Noah, Ella, Hershey “Turkey”. John was the dear son of the late Giuseppe and Chiarina Muraca, son-in-law of the late Rosario and Rosina Taverna. He was the loving brother of Rosina Mazza, the late Tony (late Angela) Muraca, the late Maria (late Alfredo) Larizza, the late Carmen (Lucia) Muraca, Anna (late Carmelo) Bono, Rita (Frank) Lattanzi, and Guido Muraca. He was the loving brother-in-law of Maria (Francesco) Chido and Vincenza (Giacinto) Bianco. He will be sadly missed by his best friends who were like brothers, the late Roger and Sandra Adams and family and Joe (Linda) Cvetkovic. John’s warmth and presence extended far beyond his immediate family as his spirit will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews across Canada, the United States, Australia and Italy.

He was an iron worker and member of local 736 for over 50 years and will be remembered for his great storytelling ability along with his love of gardening. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to family and friends for their unwavering love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. We take pride and comfort in knowing that he has touched the lives and hearts of all who knew him.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s for the care they provided along with Dr.’s Abe and Jacob Szereszewski and the late Dr. Rizzo.

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, for a Celebration of Life from 4-8 p.m. Cremation has taken place.

Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca In lieu of flowers donations to the War Amps would be appreciated by the family.
