Obituary of Daniel Ivan Nedelko

With heavy hearts and his loving family by his side we announce the passing of Daniel Ivan Nedelko on Sunday December 17th, 2023 at the Hamilton General Hospital at the age of 79. Danny was born in Paris, France to Ivan and Ksenia (Michalyk) Nedelko and immigrated to Canada at the age of 7. Loving husband to Loretta (Reynolds) for 59 years. Devoted father to Daniel (Diana), Robert, Chantelle (Giorgio) Gullone. Sweet grandfather to Michael, Christopher, Paris and Noah. Life long friend of Ronald and Margaret Campbell. He left this world the same way he lived it surrounded by the unbreakable bond and fierce love of his family. During his final hours Danny was encircled with the love and strength, of Loretta, Daniel, Bobby, Chantelle, Michael, Christopher, Paris, Noah, Diana, Giorgio, Caroline, Thuy, Carlye, Ronald and Margaret as they remained vigilant in comforting Danny as he took his last breath.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Hamilton General Hospital Stroke Unit and the Stroke Rehabilitation Center for your compassion and care. Thank you to our old friend Father Charlie Galea for your support and love.

Danny’s passion for the grocery industry began in his teens. In 1987 he became the proud owner of Danny’s no frills in Downtown Hamilton which he ran successfully for 28 years up until his retirement . Many thanks to his staff and customers for their hard-work and loyalty. To Danny family was the most important part of his life.

His family was his greatest joy and proudest achievement. His family loved and respected him and he will be missed forever. As part of Danny's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate on Danny’s behalf any memorial tributes be made in the form of a donation to the Hamilton Food Share.
