Obituary of Jelica Mijatovic
1931 – 2023
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jelica Mijatovic announces her passing on December 18th, 2023 at the age of 92. Jelica is pre-deceased by her husband Boro Mijatovic of 65 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children; son Risto and daughter-in-law Slobodanka; daughter Lepa Cirjak and son-in-law Zoran. Baba will also be fondly remembered by her 5 grandchildren, Aleksandra with her husband Simon, Mirjana, Aleksandar with his wife Jessica, Adriana and Evren, and by her great-grandchildren Luka, Maks and Rosa. She will be forever cherished in the hearts of her live siblings – her brother Savo, along with his family and her sister Zora in Europe along with her family. She is fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Dane Mijatovic and his family, and her sisters-in-law Jelica and Bosa Kovinjalo and their families. Jelica will be lovingly remembered by the Mijatovic family, by her kumovi, along with all her nieces, nephews, and friends not only in Canada, but also those in the United States and across Europe. Jelica is pre-deceased by her siblings Spiro, Momcilo and Radmila.
The family would like to thank Clarion Nursing staff for their wonderful care of Jelica during her 9 year stay there.
Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, December 21st, 2023 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Pomen at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 149 Nash Road South, Hamilton on Friday, December 22nd, 2023 at 11 a.m. with the Very Reverend Father Djuro officiating. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, 700 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral would be greatly appreciated.
