Obituary of Frances Jean Burns

Frances Jean Burns, nee Mitchell, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023 at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Kanata, Ontario. Frances was born February 28, 1934 in Hamilton, Ontario to Cleland and Lillian Mitchell, the youngest of her siblings, Lyle (Sonny), Elma and Betty whom are predeceased.

In 1952 at a dance she met the love of her life Harold Burns and married him October 1953 who preceded her in death December 2019. Together they had three children, preceded by Dianna October 2009, Lyle (Darlene) and Cheryl (Wayne). Frances is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Frances was an avid quilter awing everyone with her skill. Her home was filled with love, laughter and snacks. Frances will be deeply missed but her loved ones will continue to honour her by living life to the fullest.

A joint service for Frances and Harold will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, Stoney Creek. Visitation is from 12 p.m.-1 p.m, the service commencing at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks to please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
